Rosemary Taveras, Psy.D.
Supervising Psychologist Massapequa Park and Telehealth Rosemary Taveras (formerly Devine) received her doctorate in psychology from St. John’s University. Her training and professional experiences include hospital, school, and outpatient settings. Dr. Taveras has experience with children, adolescents, and young adults presenting with a variety of mental health needs including anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, ASD, ODD, mood dysregulation disorders, and adjustment disorders related to divorce or other family changes. She has special interest in working with adolescent girls and young women who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and interpersonal issues. Dr. Taveras enjoys working with diverse populations and has contributed research to promote cultural competence within the field of psychology.
Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approaches, Dr. Taveras helps her clients develop skills to improve functioning and increase independence. Her positive, empathetic, and energetic demeanor creates a warm and friendly atmosphere for clients to feel comfortable as they process their emotions. Dr. Taveras believes that treatment should focus on overall wellbeing and she will often incorporate mindfulness and other health practices into her work. Dr. Taveras is also a certified school psychologist who has worked in the public schools as the Committee for Special Education Chairperson. She possess expertise in education law and special education regulations. She also designed and impemented a specialized alternative program in the William Floyd School District for students with severe social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. In her free time, Dr. Taveras enjoys exercising, cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and children. In addition to her work at Wavelengths, Dr. Taveras is an adjunct professor at St. John’s University where she supervises doctoral candidates. |
